Chocolate

This writing task was about a language experience. Our teachers brought different kinds of chocolate to school and we got to eat it! We tried white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and pink chocolate. We could write about it in any way we liked but our teachers hoped we would use lots of describing language and our senses.

The Old Church

In Week 7, our class went to look at the outside of the old church building which is next to our school. We had to write using lots of adjectives, adverbs, specific nouns and vivid verbs so that we described it well. We tried to remember to use ideas from our senses and to write about not just what we thought the old church looked like but also how it made us feel.

Writing Wk 3 Term 1 2021 recount

 Kia ora.

We are learning that Basic Punctuation means that you have a capital letter at the start of a sentence, and a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark at the end of every sentence when you do a piece of writing.

Here is my recount about monarch butterflies.

Butterflies

Last week at school Team Moana went around the back to check on the swan plants and see the monarch life cycle .

We went to get our shoes on then we lined up. We started to walk to the swan plants. Some people were grabbing mint to eat.

As soon as we got to the swan plants people started spotting eggs and black, white and yellow striped caterpillars.

Eventually people started seeing monarch butterflies and a chrysalis. A lot of the chrysalides have had a butterfly pop out of it.

I enjoyed going to find out more about monarch butterflies.

3.After it’s done eating it becomes a chrysalis.

Marlin teasers

Marlin teasers

Marlin teasers come many shapes and sizes. Marlin teasers are a lure that you drag along the surface when you see a marlin you wind it up and then throw a rigged live bait in.

There are lots of types such as jet bullet head, doorknob, slanted head. They also come in colours- red, blue, green, black, gold and purple.

My father is trying to sell lots of them. some of them have never been towed before.
He owns a boat named the Sea Hunter.

my sticks and stones project.

My sticks and stones project

I made a little house out of sticks and stones. It had a stone floor.

It had a stone door and stick roofs  and walls.

It also had a stick gate to keep intruders out and prisoners in.

The stone were as strong as nails. I think my skinks would love it.

My dream spaceship

My dream spaceship.

WHOOSH!!! My dream spaceship is a plane that can fly into space and handle the atmosphere of other planets that it lands on.

My dream spaceship has a little space motor bike that can turn into a mini dune buggy.

My spaceship also has a extra motor as fast as a peregrine falcon.

GEORGE

George is my little brother and he is very mischievous.  George loves stealing treats.  He will do what he can to wind me up, he chased me and my friend Harry with a axe.  He pushed me into my aunties pool.  He's a very annoying little brother.

THE FLOWER

THE FLOWER.
The flower is wondrous.
It is stunning and it is as bright as a yellow snowflake.
They are a wild flower and they grow in gardens.
There petals are shaped like rain drops.
There stalks grow straight and there leaves pop out.
They need sun, water and earth.
There roots hold them in the earth.

Most of them smell really good.

My hoop glider.

This is what I have been doing this week.

Hoop glider
Daniel  Wootton.
21.5.19

Aim*  to find which hoop gliders fly the best.

test* George and I made 7 hoop gliders and tested them where the wind was.

Then we threw them and took photos of them.

Our hoop gliders.

The loser 3 hoop.

The blue hoop glider.

Conclusion*

The orange hoop glider was the best -it went further, the worst was “Loser” - we all called it loser, it has three hoops and went a shorter distance.
