Alarm rules

Today we built Mt Ruapehu in the sandpit. We also made the Whangaehu River valley, the plain below the mountain and the railway bridge at Tangiwai. We wanted to learn how the lahar destroyed the bridge in 1953 causing the Tangiwai Disaster. Kora and Ariana poured lots of water into the crater we had made on top of our mountain. It whoosed down the side of the mountain and into the river valley. The bridge collapsed and bits of our train fell into the river. After that, we watched a short video about what do do if you are on Mt Ruapehu when the lahar siren sounds.  Now I know how to keep safe from a lahar if one happens when I am on a mountain.  Here is my Hazard Notice with the most important information.

If the lahar alarm goes I have to get to higher ground in ninety seconds.

Haast's eagle

Kia ora I hope you enjoy my Haast's eagle jam board. We had to find out why the Haast's eagle went extinct. I liked finding out the facts.

This week we have been writing about our time to space and which aliens you meet. Are they gooey? Are they slimy. What shape are they?

This week we have been writing about when an alien stole my underpants. We had write it from when you hop out of your bed till when you've caught your alien. My alien is a revolting green. He rides in a underwear U.F.O. Here is mine. I found it hard to think of the story.

Setting Fiction Graphic Organizers

Today we have working out settings of a story that we are reading in class. The book is called The Peco Incident, it is written by a New Zealand author called Des Hunt. We had to write when it happened and where it happened. I enjoyed making a setting.Here is mine.

This week been we have working on Matariki shading art. we had to draw our symbol we liked then we had to shade it.

Chicken Diva

This month we have been working on a book called Whitney an Britney Chicken Divas. They are singing chickens. We had to make our own Chicken diva, here is mine. I enjoyed sticking beads on my chicken.
